Welcome to the website of the Lieutenancy in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire is the representative of the Queen within the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire: this includes modern Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.
The Lord-Lieutenant is assisted by a Vice Lord-Lieutenant and a number of Deputies.
Major aspects of the Lord-Lieutenant’s role relate to:
- Organising royal visits to the county
- Being involved in the Honours’ system and in particular presenting Queens Awards for Enterprise, Queens Awards for Voluntary Service and British Empire Medals
- Supporting military organisations and the armed forces within the county
- Encouraging those involved in civil society including volunteers
This website is designed to help you find out more about the role of the Lieutenancy and to assist you if you want to contact the Lord-Lieutenant about a royal visit or nominate an organisation or person for a national honour.
